Money, not learning, seems to be the name of the game in the for-profit college industry.  Sallie Mae is a “preferred federal lender” for students of for-profit schools, and although Sallie Mae was indeed in the business of issuing federal-guaranteed low-interest loans, it also issued more expensive private loans, and this, in fact, is what some for-profit schools sold their students. But to the students, the federal and private loan notes looked the same—with the same Sallie Mae logo, and likely confused or misled thousands of students.
